East to West, West to East ~with horses~

For countless generations, humans have been accompanied by horses. The ancient trade route's far-off destination in the East.
Now commences the exchange of enigmatic wisdom and technology from Nara, the most ancient capital.

Thousands of years ago, humans began to travel across the land with the help of horses. Harnessing the power of these animals was revolutionary, and it allowed for the development of strong bonds between man and horse for purposes such as farming, transportation, entertainment, and war.
The Silk Road was believed to be established in the 2nd century BC, when diplomatic missions from China visited Central Asian countries. These missions were exposed to the impressive civilizations of the area, as well as its high-quality, fast-running horses, which the Chinese emperor wanted for himself. This desire for the horses then spurred the development of the Silk Road, which originally used horses for transportation.
The blending of Eastern and Western cultures through the spread of technology, religion and culture has resulted in the enrichment of people's lives through music and art. Additionally, our longstanding relationship with horses, which has been nurtured for millennia, remains deeply embedded in our DNA.The western terminus of the Silk Road is Rome. The eastern terminus is said to be Japan / Nara.

See the truth. See the essence.

In Nara, Japan's oldest capital, artisans have faithfully preserved ancient wisdom through the production of "deer leather" with JOMON-Nameshi(tanning). This leather was then used to make harnesses by miru.
The harnesses created by miru. in Japan, which prioritize the well-being of both humans and horses, encapsulate the incredible intelligence of nature. -continuing alongside horses.

Why deerskin?

In Japan's mythology, deer were believed to have been sent by god.
Being referred to as "divine deer", this reverence has continued to this day in Nara, the former capital of Japan.
Deer leather is also used for armor, helmets, swords, and other armor handed down from ancient times, as well as costumes and ornaments for traditional performing arts.It is imbued with a mysterious and spiritual aura.

The deerskin obtained from Japanese deer was understood by our predecessors to possess a mystical, effective, and magnificent quality that could be sensed. Now, the grandeur of deerskin has been brought to light.

The existence of numerous kanji characters that incorporate horse-related components, such as "station", "familiar", and "fast", serves as evidence of the extensive and rich history of the Japanese people's association with horses.
This serves as proof of the lengthy relationship that humans have shared with horses, with horses being regarded as close family members.

Now, we are reconsidering the notion of coexisting with horses.
Indeed, to live alongside horses.

For many years, deerskin has been highly valued for its attributes, such as being lightweight, smooth, possessing a fine-grained surface, and having the ability to absorb moisture and allow air to flow through it. In Japan's climate, deerskin is particularly suitable due to these properties. The fibers within deerskin are thin and naturally contain enough oil, which allows it to remain soft without deteriorating. This makes the texture of the leather truly luxurious, earning it the title of "the cashmere of leather."
The unique qualities of deerskin make it a great fit for the body and highly valued in sports and competitions where performance is key.
Recent studies have uncovered remarkable advantages that can be achieved through the utilization of cutting-edge technology.
The implications of these findings are remarkable, and the full potential of deer leather has yet to be realized.

JOMON-Nameshi

Ancient techniques revived by the restoration of Jomon period costumes

Cowhide is a popular material in Japan's present-day culture, however, deer leather has been utilized for armor, customary performance arts, and decor since ancient times. In 2017, when attempting to restore costumes from the Jomon period (16,000~3,000 years ago), the developers had to research how to tan deer leather, which was completely different from modern methods and was done in a completely different environment. After much trial and error, they eventually succeeded in creating a unique method of tanning called "Jomon Nameshi (tanning)".

The mysterious power of deer leather; like a gift to help modern people struggling with their daily lives

The developers discovered a completely different approach to tanning which took full advantage of nature. This resulted in deer leather which seemed to have come alive, possessing a mysterious power.

Evidence of JOMON-Nameshi

Mysteries and wonders of prehistoric tanned deerskin that our ancestors knew──

The findings of modern scientific research conducted by specialized institutes are remarkable when it comes to Jomon-tanned deer skin, demonstrating its amazing capabilities. The craftsmanship of deerskin, which is unique and a source of pride for Japan, along with its unexplainable wonders, is still yet to be fully understood.

Heat Dissipation Effect

Legs are life for a horse. The concept is not to cool the legs when they are hot, but to "let the heat dissipate". When we have a fever, we too have placed wet towels or ice packs on our foreheads. However, many people may have experienced that this would make us warm up within 30 minutes. What about when you wet a piece of deerskin and put it on your forehead? It is still cold after 2-3 hours. This is a sign of "heat dissipation.

Mite Avoidance Effect

The test results indicate a tick avoidance rate of 93.5% achieved through mite avoidance. This suggests that ticks and other mites do not remain in areas where they would not survive and instead move away. Of course, it is not toxic to mammals.

Aroma Effect

An incense bag that you want to carry quietly in your bag, the scent of sumi ink that somehow makes you feel at ease. The reason for this is attributed to the use of smoked deerskin by the ladies of the Ooku district in their incense pouches to alleviate women's irritability. On the other hand, the ink makers included a fragrant ingredient in their ink, which was musk. Musk is a scent derived from musk deer that are found in the regions of Yunnan and Nepal. Who discovered its efficacy?

Deodorant Effect

Nonenal gas removal performance evaluation test: 90% reduction rate. This gas is said to be the cause of age-related odors. It is said to be almost impossible to remove. This gas is known to cause cell death and rapidly increase the aging rate. Although products such as coating products and deodorizing pillows are available, the ability of deerskin to reduce nonenal gas by 90% is astonishing. Ammonia gas removal performance evaluation test: 99% reduction rate. Acetic acid gas removal performance evaluation test: 97% reduction. Isovaleric acid gas removal performance evaluation test: 99% reduction. The odor of the mixture of these three types is foot odor. The odor of women's boots and pumps is defined as stronger than men's. Even insoles with charcoal and other materials that remove foot odor have an odor removal rate of about 30%. This figure for deerskin is unmatched.

Anti-Mold Effect

The anti-fungus test has yielded a score of 3.3, indicating the presence of a particularly troublesome fungus, the live white mold fungus responsible for athlete's foot. This value represents the highest score recorded by testing equipment available in Japan. It's worth noting that this fungus poses a significant challenge to humans. Increasing oxygen levels in the brain can enhance physical abilities, prevent mites, and protect against eye and ear fungus, as well as other fungal infections.

Water Softening Effect

Deerskin adsorbs and removes chlorine to less than 0.02 ppm, a completely non-exhaustive value, regardless of chlorine concentration. For example, if you soak deerskin in a bucket, the water will decompose the chlorine and become soft water.

Water Filtration Effect

For a considerable period, deerskin has served as a fuel filter for airplanes and helicopters. In an experiment aimed at determining whether muddy water could be filtered to produce drinking water, the outcome revealed an absence of common bacteria and E. coli. Specifically, the experiment's results indicated that both general bacteria and E. coli were undetectable, highlighting the remarkable filtration capacity of deerskin.

Wiping Effect

Deerskin has long been used to filter fuel for airplanes and helicopters. Is it possible to filter muddy water and make it drinking water? As a result of the experiment, general bacteria and E. coli were not detected. Amazing filtering ability of deerskin.

Heat Dissipation Bandage

A new concept of "heat dissipation" protects the horse's legs. After the race, it is important to quickly cool down the horse's legs to reduce any heat buildup. The bandage is designed to protect the legs of a competing horse by sticking it on to its legs to help retain water and dissipate heat. Instead of cooling like a coolant, heat is dissipated. It is made of the thickest part of deer leather and is used with copious amounts of water to keep the horse's legs cool after a run. It can be used in a variety of scenarios, such as while traveling in a carriage, in a stable, or while grazing, and before the horse is taken to the washing area. As legs are essential for a horse's performance, this bandage is essential for keeping the competitive horse's legs safe and healthy.

Horse Saddle

A horse saddle that provides the sensation of riding a bare horse. The saddle incorporates deer leather, which has an anti-slip property, for the area in contact with the horse. The armor leather is made of nume leather, and the appropriate leather is utilized in the corresponding location for optimal performance.

Jinba-Ittai Towel

Deerskin is primarily composed of collagen, making it an excellent material for washing and wiping horses to give them a shiny appearance. Additionally, it can be used by people to wash their bodies and hair. Therefore, deerskin can be used as a towel suitable for both horses and humans.

Menco

By protecting the valuable horse's eyes and covering its head with deerskin, one can anticipate a soothing effect. Additionally, the use of Menko can aid in the horse's concentration.

Ear Net

Earmuffs that protect timid horses from noise and shiels their ears from ticks and mold.

Riding─coming soon─

It is designed for year-round use, with the ability to dissipate heat during the summer months and retain heat during the winter months. The concept of heat dissipation, as seen in the bandage, is also applied to this horse wear, which is designed to be cooler and protect the horse's body from insect bites such as those from ticks and horseflies.

Halter Cover

To allow multiple horses to experience the benefits of deerskin, a cover made of this material is added to the cord that goes around the nose and ears. This serves to provide a soothing effect.
